Michael J. Marquardt Dr. Michael Marquardt is a Professor of Human Resource Development and Program Director of Overseas Programs at George Washington University. He also serves as President of Global Learning Associates, a premier consulting firm assisting corporations around the world to become successful global learning organizations. He has held a number of senior management, training and marketing positions with organizations such as Grolier, World Center for Development and Training, International Coffee Organization, Overseas Education Fund, TradeTec, and U.S. Office of Personnel Management. Dr. Marquardt has trained over 25,000 managers in 85 countries since beginning his international experience in Spain in 1969. Consulting assignments have included Marriott, DuPont, Pentax, Motorola, Nortel, COMSAT, Rover, United Nations Development Program, Xerox, San Miguel, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Arthur Andersen, National Semiconductor, Warner-Lambert, TRW, Citicorp, Price Waterhouse, and Singapore Airlines as well as the governments of Indonesia, Laos, Ethiopia, Zambia, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Russia, Jamaica, Honduras, and Swaziland. Mike is the author or co-author of over 50 articles and 10 books in the field of management and organizational development including Building the Learning Organization (selected as Book of the Year by the Academy of HRD), The Global Advantage, The Power of Action Learning, Global Human Resource Development, Corporate Culture: International HRD Perspectives, and Technology and Learning in the Workplace. He has been a keynote speaker at international conferences in Australia, Japan, England, Philippines, Malaysia, South Africa, Sweden, Singapore, and India as well as throughout North America. Dr. Marquardt's achievements and leadership have been recognized though numerous awards including the International Practitioner of the Year Award from the American Society for Training and Development and the Presidentís Award from the USDA Graduate School. He presently serves as a Senior Advisor for the United Nations Staff College in the areas of policy, technology, and learning systems. Mike is a Fellow of the National Academy for Human Resource Development and a co-founder of the Asian Learning Organization Network.
He received his doctorate in Human Resource Development from George Washington University
and his Masters and Bachelor Degrees from Maryknoll College. Dr. Marquardt has also done
graduate work at Harvard, Columbia and the University of Virginia. He enjoys sailing, skiing,
music and traveling with his Swiss wife and their four children. |
